Kolkata's Writers' Buliding, which functions as West Bengal government's Secretariat, was evacuated following a bomb scare, media reports said on Tuesday.
A bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs were rushed to the spot soon after an anonymous mail was sent to Lalbazar police headquarters, according to the latest reports.
"We are looking into who has sent the mail. We are not taking any chances and are conducting search operations there in the Writers Building," PTI quoted a senior officer of Kolkata Police said.
The iconic building is undergoing renovation and hence, most of the departments have been shifted to Nabanna, a building situated in Howrah.
More details awaited.
