A lesbian lover killed a teenage girl in Kolkata on Thursday after she allegedly refused to marry her, according to a report.
Twenty-three-year-old Mandira had recently proposed to her 17-year-old lover and asked her to stay with her permanently, a police officer said. But, the girl was not comfortable with the idea.
Later, when Mandira came to know that the girl's relatives have arranged her marriage with a man, she called her out and stabbed her several times inside the employees' quarters of South Eastern Railway at Garden Reach.
"It's a rare kind of murder where a lesbian lover killed another because her proposal was rejected. Investigations revealed that the assailant, Mandira, proposed marriage to the minor girl," Hindustan Times quoted deputy commissioner of police Sudeep Sarkar as saying.
Mandira has been absconding ever since. A search team will reportedly go to her village in South 24 Parganas district looking for her.
A Bengali TV actress had committed suicide last February after her live-in partner, a fellow actress, abandoned her.
