Although their derby match will be played at the Kanchenjunga Stadium in Siliguri, tributes will be paid to the victims of the the flyover collapse in Kolkata by the Indian football powerhouses East Bengal and Mohun Bagan Saturday. The clubs will observe a minute's silence before the start of the game.
An under-construction flyover collapsed in a busy area in North Kolkata's Girish Park area Thursday afternoon, claiming many lives. Rescue operations are still on as new bodies are being recovered from the debris.
Mohun Bagan and East Bengal want to play their part in paying tribute to those who have lost their lives in the tragedy. Besides observing a minute's silence, the two sides will don black armbands in their I-League game to show their support for the victims.
Several footballers from both Mohun Bagan and East Bengal have taken to twitter as well to pay homage to the deceased.
