Nayanthara's Kolamavu Kokila has set the box office on fire. In its first weekend, the Tamil movie has made a fantastic collection and has shown signs of becoming her biggest solo hit.
As per trade reports, Kolamavu Kokila grossed close to Rs 4 crore on the first day and the business dropped slightly on its next day as it earned Rs 3.1 crore to take its total tally to Rs 7.1 crore.
On Sunday, Aug 19, Kolamavu Kokila posted its best performance by minting Rs 4.1 crore to take its total tally to Rs 11.19 crore in its first weekend itself. In Chennai alone, the film has grossed around Rs 1.6 crore in three days.
The major part of Kolamavu Kokila's revenue has come from three centres – Chennai, Chengalpet and Coimbatore. The good word-of-mouth is expected to help the movie to reach out to the audience in B and C centres.
The highest grossing movie of Nayanthara in the main lead role is Maya, which grossed over Rs 50 crore at the worldwide box office. Her Aramm won rave reviews, but could only earn around Rs 15 crore.
Now, the industry is expecting Kolamavu Kokila to break the two records.
Kolamavu Kokila, which has released in over 225 screens, has impressed the viewers with its content and the performances from the likes of Nayanthara, Saranya Ponvannan and Yogi Babu. The comedy part alone has won rave reviews from the audience.
