Dhanush and Trisha Krishnan have registered a 'hit' to their credits as their latest movie Kodi has made good collection at the Tamil Nadu box office. Interestingly, its Telugu version Dharma Yogi too has been received well by the Andhra and Telangana audience.
The trade reports say that Kodi has grossed over Rs 33 crore in the first week in Tamil Nadu alone. Some unconfirmed reports have stated that the movie has minted Rs 38.2 crore in seven days in the state, but the makers are yet to formally announce the business made by the movie.
The combined collection of Tamil and Telugu versions has crossed Rs 50-crore mark at the global box office, say reports. The success of the movie is now evident after 75 new screens have been added in Tamil Nadu and around 30 screens have been increased in Andhra Pradesh.
Kodi had reportedly raked in over Rs 20 crore in the opening weekend and the Deepavali festival holiday helped the movie to retain good viewership on Monday. The business reportedly dipped in the next few days. However, it is likely to witness growth in its second weekend, predict trade experts.
It has to be noted that Kodi has also done good business in the international markets. The Dhanush-starrer has collected approximately Rs 4.5 crore gross at the overseas box office in the first weekend. The movie has raked in Rs 42 lakh in the US, Rs 26 lakh in the UK, Rs 62 lakh in the UAE, Rs 12 lakh in France, Rs 65 lakh in Malaysia, Rs 23 lakh in Australia and Rs 2.25 crore in other international markets.
According to reports, Kodi is set to enter profit zone for distributors in its second week.
