Even after breaking many records at the worldwide box office, Mohanlal continues his
successful run with the recent release Pulimurugan. The action thriller, which has become
the first Malayalam movie to cross Rs 100 crore mark, is performing well at the worldwide
box office even after a month of its release.
Looking at the collection from the six multiplexes in Kochi, the Vysakh directorial is performing decently even on the 33rd day beating the collection of the other recent releases. The Mohanlal-starrer has earned Rs 4.82 lakh on the 33rd day from multiplexes in Kochi taking a grand total of Rs 3.32 crore from the six screens in the city. The movie had 29 shows on the 33rd day with an average theatre occupancy of 52.55%.
Even though the figures have witnessed a huge drop compared to the previous weeks, it is making a good business considering the number of days its has completed the theatrical run. Nevertheless, it has become the fastest movie to cross Rs 1 crore, Rs 2 crore and Rs 3 crore mark at the Kochi multiplexes and is inching towards the Rs 3.5 crore that Pulimurugan is expected to earn during this week.
Meanwhile, Aanandam, starring seven newcomers, has also been holding well with the superstar movie. The Ganesh Raj directorial, has collected approximately Rs 1.18 crore from five multiplexes in Kochi and its 19th day earning is said to be Rs 2.99 lakh from 28 shows. The campus entertainer has been gaining the attention of the young generation for being the story of a group of students of an engineering college in Kerala.
Aanandam has been making the headlines since it started rolling as it is the maiden production venture of actor-direcrtor Vineeth Sreenivasan under the banner of Habit of Life. After opening to positive response from the audience in Kerala, the campus movie has been enjoying housefull shows in the screens rest of India.
