On the seventh day of its theatrical run at the multiplexes in Kochi, latest Malayalam movie Aanandam, helmed by debutant Ganesh Raj, has beaten the 21st day collection of Mohanlal's Pulimurugan. The campus entertainer, starring seven newcomers in the lead roles, has now earned more than the action thriller on two consecutive days at the multiplexes in the city.
The seventh day earning of Aanandam is said to be Rs 6.14 lakh from 28 shows at the multiplexes, while Pulimurugan has made a business of Rs 6.05 lakh on the 21st day despite having 42 shows at the big screens in the city. Aanandam has now witnessed a gross collection of Rs 46.07 lakh during its first week and Pulimurugan has crossed the Rs 2.5 crore mark by making Rs 2.52 crore within 21 days of its run.
Aanandam, bankrolled by Vineeth Sreenivasan witnessed a theatre occupancy of 73.44 percent on the 7th day, while Pulimurugan saw just 40.63 percent on its 21st day. The slight drop in the earning of Pulimurugan had benefitted Aanandam on Wednesday, October 26 as well when the campus movie had earned a little more than the Vysakh directorial. Meanwhile, the Mohanlal-starrer continues to break and make records at the box office in Kerala. After becoming the fastest movie to cross the Rs 50 lakh mark, it has also made it to the list of fastest movie entering Rs 1 crore, Rs 1.5 crore, Rs 2 crore and now Rs 2.5 crore at the multiplexes in Kochi.
The big budget action thriller, produced by Tomichan Mulakupaadam, is all set to become the highest grossing movie of Mohanlal. Trade analysts predict that the film is expected to rake in Rs 100 crore from the worldwide box office within a month of its release.
