Legendary playback singer Kishore Kumar took the music industry to a different level with his evergreen songs. On his 29th death anniversary (October 13), Bollywood celebs paid homage to the great soul and the finest singer of all times.
Kumar was born in a Bengali family in Khandwa, now in Madhya Pradesh, to Abhas Kumar Ganguly, a lawyer by profession, and Gouri Devi. He made history in the Indian film industry as the most successful playback singer, who was also an actor, director, composer, lyricist, producer, screenplay writer and scriptwriter. The legend holds the record for winning the most Filmfare awards for Best Male Playback Singer.
Kumar lent his voice to many soulful and beautiful songs like Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhaagi Si, Gaata Rahe Mera Dil, Khaike Paan Banaras Wala, Roop Tera Mastana, Yeh Dil Na Hota Bechara, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Paanch Rupaiya Baara Aana. Not just Hindi songs, Kumar also sang for many Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Urdu, Bhojpuri and Kannada films. He died on October 13, 1987 at the age of 58, after suffering from cardiovascular disease.
