Much to the shock of fans from all over the world, Hallyu star Kim Woo Bin recently announced that he has been diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer, a rare form of throat cancer that starts behind the nose.
There hasn't been much update about his health condition since the initial announcement, but according to Dr. Jung Yoo Seok of the National Cancer Center, Woo Bin has a high chance of recovery if his cancer is in the initial stages.

During an appearance on KBS 2TV's Entertainment Weekly, Yoo Seok said: "Due to the uncommon location of the cancer, the standard procedure is to treat him with a mix of radiation treatment and medication without surgery. When caught in the primary or secondary stage you can expect 70% chance of full recovery and in the 3rd or 4th stage the chance of recovery increases depending on how healthy the patient is."
Woo Bin has started treatment, and this will result in the Uncontrollably Fond actor staying away from the limelight for a while.
According to reports, Woo Bin wanted to keep his cancer diagnosis a secret so as to avoid worrying his parents. He even wanted to delay treatment until filming for his new movie, Wiretap, was completed. However, Choi Dong Hoon, the director of the movie, rejected this idea.
"We heard about the truth of Kim Woo Bin's illness," a source close to the production unit was quoted as saying by Dramafever. "We are planning to push back filming because Kim Woo Bin's health is more important than filming for the movie. We hope he recovers soon."
