Kim Ki-bum, a member of SM Entertainment's contemporary boy band Shinee, celebrates his 24th birthday on Wednesday, 23 September. He was born in Daegu city of South Korea and is popularly known by his stage name, Key.
The K-pop star had to go through several hardships in his childhood. His mother fell sick after giving him birth and since his father was busy with his profession, his grandmother raised him.
The Shinee member was discovered by popular record label SM Entertainment during the SM National Tour Audition Casting in 2006. After two years of training, he was introduced as a member of the contemporary boy group.
Besides being an active member of the boy band, Key has collaborated with several other music groups and singers, including Infinite member Woohyun, TVXQ singer Xiah, South Korean rock band TRAX, girl group Girls' Generation, Super Junior member Leeteuk and boy band EXO.
The singer has also been involved in various television shows, such as "Raising Idol", "Moon Night 90", "Salamander Guru and The Shadows", "We Got Married Global Edition", "Star Gazing", "M! Countdown", "My Little Television", "Key's Know How" and "Cast a Spell".
