The legal battle between South Korean actor Kim Hyun Joong and his ex-girlfriend Ms Choi is finally settled. Both parties underwent a DNA test following a South Korean court's directive. The result of the paternity test, which was announced on Sunday, 20 December, shows that Kim Hyun Joong is indeed the father of Ms Choi's son. Although the actor himself hasn't spoken on the subject, his parents called for a press conference on Monday, 21 December.
Hyun Joong's father revealed his son's reaction to the paternity result. According to Hyun Joong's dad, the actor will take responsibility and will follow the court's decision on custody. Furthermore, the actor's father said that he wants to end the matter and requested for a meeting with Ms Choi.
Kim Hyun Joong's lawyer Lee Jae Man said, "If we don't continue with the lawsuit, Kim Hyun Joong will have to live with the disgrace of being accused of assaulting her for becoming pregnant with his child."
Meanwhile, Ms Choi's legal representative said, "My client and Kim Hyun Joong lived together for about two years and she became pregnant five times during that period. We have submitted 66 pieces of evidence for the damage lawsuit. Kim Hyun Joong has continuously held unnecessary press conferences and performed media play that made my client out to be a national swindler and blackmailer without any evidence. "
He continued, "Kim Hyun Joong will have to show himself responsible for his child and protect the rights of his child and the mother, and apologize for the 'murder' of Ms. Choi's character through commentary in the likes of 'She will have to take responsibility if the child is not mine," reported Soompi.
