After months of an intense legal battle, actor Kim Hyun Joong and his ex-girlfriend Ms Choi have taken DNA tests to confirm the paternity of the child, according to the latest news.
Both parties visited the Seoul National University Hospital in Jongno, Seoul on Monday, 14 December. If the test reveals that Kim Hyun Joong is the biological father of Ms Choi's son, he will have to take financial responsibility of the child.
According to a recent update on the court case, Ms Choi visited the hospital with her baby and her lawyer. Although the ex-partners did not speak to the media, their lawyers hinted at the possible outcome of the DNA test.
"We hope that the truth will come to light and that Kim Hyun Joong will take his position as the father. We are 100% sure [that the test results will show Kim Hyun Joong is the father]," Ms Choi's lawyer, Sun Joong Moon said, according to Soompi.
Meanwhile, the 29 year-old actor's legal representative, Lee Jae Man stated, "[The paternity of the child] must be known before my client takes responsibility as the father of the child. This is what he wanted. If the results say he is the father, he will of course take responsibility. If he is not the father, she will have to take responsibility."
Ms Choi and Kim Hyun Joong's decision to take a paternity test at Seoul Hospital comes after a Family Court ordered them to undergo DNA tests.
Soompi reported that the South Korean actor took leave from the army to complete the legal formalities, and is now in his station at Paju.
It is still unclear when the paternity test results will be announced.
