Ranveer Singh and Parineeti Chopra's "Kill Dil" opening weekend box office collection wasn't up to the mark. The romantic action thriller, which marks Govinda's, raked in only ₹20.18 crore in its opening weekend at the box office, according to Bollywood Hungama.
Here is the first three days breakup of the film: Friday ₹6.53 crore, Saturday ₹6.35 crore and Sunday ₹7.30 crore.
The action drama was expected to earn ₹30+ crore in its debut weekend, but surprisingly the collection has been very low. Trade experts said that the film would open well in India keeping in mind the lead cast -- Ranveer, Parineeti, Govinda and Ali Zafar – and heavy promotion.
Also, "Kill Dil" was a solo release this week and it didn't have much competition from previous releases at the box office. But the film failed to live up to trade analysts' expectations.
The film had a very low start and the opening day figure only proved that the debut weekend will be low. The film managed to mint in ₹20.18 crore, which is way below Ranveer's "Gunday".
"Gunday" and "Kill Dil" are of same genre, but the former opened well and also performed well in its weekend. The opening weekend total of "Gunday" stands at ₹43.93 crore.
Even, last year's release "Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-leela" managed to cross the ₹50 crore mark in first three days.
While this is one of the lowest opening weekends for Ranveer, for Parineeti it's the second highest opening weekend.
Parineeti's "Daawat-e-Ishq" fetched ₹13.6 crore, "Hasee Toh Phasee" minted ₹18.4 crore and "Ishaqzaade" minted ₹15.91 crore. Her "Shuddh Desi Romance" has the highest opening weekend collection (23.27 crore).
Meanwhile, for the makers the opening weekend collection is good as they managed to recover half of the production cost (₹40 crore) in three days.
