Siddharth-Lakshmi Menon's "Jigarthanda" is all set to clash with Salman Khan's Hindi film "Kick" on 25 July.
"Jigarthanda" is one of the most-awaited films of 2014, directed by Karthik Subburaj of "Pizza" fame. The film's trailer has generated a lot of positive buzz about the project. The gangster musical film has been censored with a "U/A" and is slated to hit the screens on 25 July.
It is all set to lock horns with Salman Khan's "Kick," which is also releasing on the same day. "Kick" is the remake of the Telugu film with the same name. The film has also been remade in Tamil as "Thillalangadi," starring Jayam Ravi and Tamannaah.
"Kick" is all set for a wide release for Ramzan, which is being considered as a lucky period for Salman Khan. The action comedy entertainer is carrying good buzz and is sure to take fantastic openings upon its release. Distributor Ramesh, who had acquired the "Chennai Express" distribution rights, will be distributing "Kick" in Tamil Nadu. SPI Cinemas will distribute the film in Chennai.

"Kick" makers are trying to release the film in 100 screens across Tamil Nadu, according to entertainment industry tracker Sreedhar Pillai. Directed by Sajid Nadiadwala, "Kick" has Jacqueline Fernandez, Randeep Hooda and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in pivotal roles.
Post the success of "Chennai Express," Hindi films have got a good market in the south. Hrithik Roshan's "Krrish 3" and Aamir Khan's "Dhoom 3," which were released last year, performed well at the Tamil Nadu box office.
Salman Khan's "Kick" is expected to take good openings in Tamil Nadu as the actor is one of the most popular stars of Indian cinema and his films have a huge market.
On the other hand, "Jigarthanda" and its Telugu dubbed version is expected to release in a good number of screens. The film is likely to take off on a good note, though it is expected to face strong competition from "Kick" in the south as well as in overseas markets.
Produced by Kathiresan, "Jigarthanda" has Bobby Simha and Karunakaran in pivotal roles. The film's music is composed by Santhosh Narayanan and cinematography is handled by Gavemic U Ary. The makers are planning to release the film's new trailer online on Thursday and it will be screened across theatres on 18 July.
