Records are meant to be broken and so are box office records.
Every year, several films are released in India, including the big budget films of Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan among others.
The biggies' films create records and set a new benchmark at the box office for the other films. Like last year, 2014 box office also witnessed a storm after the release of Salman's "Kick".
The film ended the dry spell at the box office and went on to become the first ₹200 crore grosser film of the year.
Last year, "Chennai Express" released during Eid shattered all the previous records and went on to become the highest grosser film, but that record was soon broken by Roshan's "Krrish 3" and later by Aamir's "Dhoom 3".
And this year seems to be no different. The second half of the year will see the release of several big budget films like "Happy New Year", "Bang Bang", "Haider", "Mary Kom" and "P.K." among others and their collections will be compared with "Kick" to see which star film has earned more.
So which actor's movie will beat "Kick" lifetime figures? Here are three much awaited movies that have the potential to break "Kick" records in India.
"Bang Bang"
"Bang Bang", the official remake of the Hollywood movie "Knight and Day" will be released on 2 October, that features the hit jodi Roshan and Kaif in the lead roles.
"Bang Bang" trailer and the song "Tu Meri" went viral and was well appreciated by critics as well as the audience.
The film is one of the much awaited releases as it marks the comeback of the hit pair and has high expectations.
Last year, Roshan's "Krrish 3" became the second highest grosser and analysts are expecting "Bang Bang" to create the same magic.
"Happy New Year"
The film has all the factors in its favour. The "Om Shanti Om" blockbuster trio – SRK, Deepika Padukone and Farah Khan – is back with this upcoming film.
Since it is a Diwali release, it is expected to ring the cash registers. The trailer created dhoom when it was released on 14 August, raising the expectations.
Not only audiences, but traders, distributors and analysts have lots of expectations from the Shah Rukh starrer.
"P.K."
Aamir's "P.K." naked poster has already taken the limelight with controversies.
The film is set to release on Aamir's lucky time, Christmas, to create history at the box office.
"Dhoom 3" released on 19 December broke all the records and became the highest grosser film. His other films "Ghajini" and "3 Idiots" released during the same period entered the ₹100 crore and ₹200 crore club respectively.
"P.K." also brings back the jodi of Rajkumar Hirani and Aamir, who gave the blockbuster hit movie "3 Idiots".
