Director Surender Reddy's "Kick 2" has got a superb opening and raked in good figures at the box office on the first day. The film has become the biggest opener for actor Ravi Teja.
"Kick 2" is a sequel to Surender Reddy's hit action comedy film "Kick" starring Ravi Teja and Ileana D'Cruz in the leads. The huge success of its prequel generated lot of expectations from "Kick 2", which has been creating ripples in the media ever since it was announced.
The huge craze and curiosity around "Kick 2" pushed the price of its distributions rights higher in all the regions around the world. Advance booking was made available for the film, and the movie registered an average of 65% occupancy, which it is said to be highest for a Ravi Teja's film.
"Kick 2" released in around 1200 screens around the world on 21 August and became the biggest release for Ravi Teja, beating the record of his previous film "Power". The makers held benefit shows in several centres in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and the film registered an average of 95% occupancy in this show, which was held in the wee hours of Friday.
The Ravi Teja and Rakul Preet Singh starrer witnessed unprecedented crowed in both the states in the regular morning show. The movie recorded an average of over 90% occupancy in both single screen and multiplexes in the later shows.
The makers are yet to reveal its opening day collection. If we are to go by early estimates, "Kick 2" has collected approximately Rs 6.25 crore at the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on the first day of its release.
Meanwhile, his last film "Power" had reportedly raked in Rs 5.14 crore. But the film failed to beat the opening day record of Surender Reddy's "Race Gurram", which reportedly collected Rs 6.89 crore on the first day.
