Akshay Kumar's action comedy film "Khiladi 786" is going rock steady at the domestic box office in its second week of release, but its overseas collections remained dull.
The movie, which also stars Asin Thottumkal, was released on Dec 7 and received negative to mixed reviews from critics. The film in its opening day and first week earned some good figures in India.
Initially, the previous release film "Talaash" affected the business of Akshay's film, which later picked up earnings during the first week and dominated the ticket box office window.
The business of the film started declining in the second week of its release. It raked in approximately ₹10.75 crore in the second weekend and ₹2 crore on Monday. The total of the film at the domestic box office now stands at ₹65.25 crore.
The breakup of the film is: Friday ₹2.63 crore, Saturday ₹3.37 crore, Sunday ₹4.75 crore and Monday ₹2 crore.
The movie is still running in its second and requires approximately ₹34.75 crore to surpass the ₹100 crore mark at the domestic box office. But looking at the pace at which the movie is going, the chances of it surpassing that mark are very low.
Also, Salman Khan's much hyped movie "Dabangg 2" is set to release this week. "Dabangg 2" will affect the collections of "Khiladi 786" drastically at both domestic and overseas markets. The craze of the film is high and the advance booking has already received tremendous response in India.
The Ashish R Mohan-directed film also features Mithun Chakraborty and Himesh Reshammiya in lead roles.
