Action comedy film "Khiladi 786," starring Akshay Kumar and Asin Thottumkal, has opened to a fantastic response at the box offices. The film released on non-holiday Friday got mixed reviews from the critics, but it's attracting all movie buffs.
The movie marks the comeback of action king Akshay Kumar as the "Khiladi" after a gap of 12 years. The movie was released on Dec. 7 across 2,786 screens in India.
The box office collection reports are not out, but looking at the first day opening, trade analysts are expecting the movie to earn more than Rs. 10 crore.
"#Khiladi786 Friday figures are a little over 10 cr nett in India. Figures still pouring in," trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted adding, "#Khiladi786 opens to a thunderous response. Morning shows are FANTASTIC."
There are also reports suggesting that the movie raked in Rs. 16 crore on the opening day, breaking the record of Akshay's superhit movie "Rowdy Rathore." However, the actual collection figure was not revealed by trade analysts and Eros Entertainment.
Meanwhile, this is Akshay's fifth movie to be released this year including "Housefull 2," "Rowdy Rathore," "Joker" and "OMG: Oh My God!"
The Khiladi series comprised seven movies - "Khiladi" (1992), "Main Khiladi Tu Anari" (1993), "Sabse Bada Khiladi" (1995), "Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi" (1996), "Mr and Mrs Khiladi" (1997), "International Khiladi" (1999) and "Khiladi 420" (2000).
The movie directed by Ashish R Mohan also features Mithun Chakraborty and Himesh Reshammiya in lead roles.
