Akshay Kumar's latest action comedy film "Khiladi 786" is going steady at the domestic box office unlike in the overseas markets. After witnessing good weekend collections, business of the movie has declined on its first Monday.
Ashish R Mohan directorial film collected ₹5.4 crore on Monday, taking the overall domestic total to ₹39.7 crore.
In the international market, the movie turned out to be a big disappointment. In spite of weak collections, the film is seen attracting audiences to the screen.
"Khiladi 786" is Akshay Kumar's much awaited movie as it marks the return of action king as "Khiladi" after 12 years. But the Khiladi failed to create his magic this time at the collection window.
From the day of its release the movie did not show major growth in business, and on Monday the business declined considerably.
It raked in ₹10.40 crore on its opening day, ₹11.15 crore on Saturday, ₹12.75 crore on Sunday and ₹5.4 crore on Monday. The movie is performing well at single screens as compared to multiplexes.
Akshay starrer films generally do well in North Indian territories, but "Khiladi 786" did not fetch the desired business, according to trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh.
Except "Joker", Akshay's other three movies released this year, such as "Housefull 2," "Rowdy Rathore" and "OMG: Oh My God!", did good business. But the business of recent action comedy fell below the mark as compared to the actor's previous movies.
The movie, released on Dec 7, also features Asin Thottumkal in the female lead role.
