Action comedy film "Khiladi 786" starring Akshay Kumar and Asin Thottumkal in the lead roles completed its second week with fantastic figures at the domestic box office.
With no major releases last week, "Khiladi 786" dominated the domestic box office. It raked in approximately ₹17.5 crore net in the second week. The overall domestic total now stands at ₹ 70 crore net.
The action comedy film released on a non-holiday Friday received mixed reviews from critics and audiences, but in terms of collection it has done excellent business.
The collections of the movie in the first two days were not good, but it gained pace in India after the first Sunday. The film also pushed down the previously released suspense thriller "Talaash" in India.
Aamir Khan starrer "Talaash" collected ₹ 16.75 crore in the second week, while "Khiladi 786" went ahead with a small margin. The film attracted movie buffs at single screens, however, the business continued to remain dull at the multiplexes.
It requires ₹ 30 crore to surpass the ₹100 crore mark in India, but looking at the collections it appears that "Khiladi 786" won't be able to cross that mark.
And with Salman Khan's "Dabangg 2" which released today, the chances of "K786" crossing that mark have declined. As per early estimates, "Dabangg 2" is expected to collect more than ₹ 20 crore at the domestic box office on its opening day.
"Khiladi 786" marks the return of Akshay as "Khiladi" after a gap of 12 years. The film is directed by Ashish R Mohan and also features Mithun Chakraborty and Himesh Reshammiya in lead roles.
