Akshay Kumar's latest film, "Khiladi 786", has finally surpassed the ₹50 crore mark at the domestic box office in its first week.
The action comedy film in its first week raked in ₹52.55 crore at the Indian box office. Despite earning good collections, "Khiladi 786" failed to break the first week box office record of Aamir Khan's suspense thriller film "Talaash". The Reema Kagti-directed movie, featuring Rani Mukherjee, Kareena Kapoor and Aamir, was released on Nov 30.
Both movies hit the screens on a good note and crossed ₹50 core in domestic collections.
"Khiladi 786" was Akshay's much-anticipated movie as it marks the return of the action hero as "Khiladi" after a gap of 12 years. Despite the hype, the movie fell below audience's expectations.
The movie, which also stars Asin Thottumkal in the female lead role, had a decent weekend compared to Akshay's previous releases this year. It had received good response at the mass-dominated centres and single screens, but fell below the mark at multiplexes.
The first week breakup of the movie is ₹10.40 crore on Friday, ₹11 crore on Saturday, ₹12.75 crore on Sunday, ₹5.50 crore on Monday, ₹4.90 crore on Tuesday, ₹4.10 crore on Wednesday, ₹3.90 crore on Thursday, according to trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh.
The Ashish R Mohan-directed film also features Mithun Chakraborty and Himesh Reshammiya in lead roles.
