Having opened to an average response, the Hindi version of Yash's KGF: Chapter 1 has gone to show some sign of growth on Saturday and made a good collection at the domestic box office in two days.
KGF: Chapter 1 is a Kannada-language period action film and it has been dubbed and released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. Unlike other southern superstars, Sandalwood rocking star Yash does not enjoy a huge fan-following in north India, which is the hub of Hindi speaking community. Moreover, its Hindi version clashed with most-hyped movie Zero featuring Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
Though its promos had grabbed many eyeballs, the above aspects had dimmed its prospects in north India, where the Hindi version of KGF: Chapter 1 was released in around 1,500 screens. The movie went on to debut with an average response and collected Rs 2.10 crore net at the domestic box office on the first day.
The Prashanth Neel-directed movie received mixed talk, but most of the Hindi audience seemed to be impressed with it. On the other hand, Zero failed to strike a chord with some filmgoers in the north. This boost the collection of Hindi version of KGF: Chapter 1, which went on to show 42.86 per cent growth on Saturday.
The Hindi version of KGF: Chapter 1 has collected Rs 3 crore net at the Indian box office on Saturday, taking its two-day total to Rs 5.10 crore net. Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#KGF witnesses an upward trend on Day 2 [Sat]... Biz should grow further on Day 3 [Sun]... Growth on Day 2 [vis-à-vis Day 1]: 42.86%... Fri 2.10 cr, Sat 3 cr. Total: ₹ 5.10 cr. India biz. Note: HINDI version."
However, KGF: Chapter 1 has also shown decent growth at the US box office and topped the chart for south films. Ramesh Bala observer of south Indian film trade, tweeted, "Saturday 4:30 PM PST US BO (Dec 22nd): #KGF leads other South releases by a mile. #KGF $75K (74 locations) #Antariksham $48K (95 locations) #PadiPadiLecheManasu $29 K (82 locations) #Maari2 $5K (24 locations).
