Rocking Star Yash's KGF has opened to positive reviews in large and got a great opening at the Karnataka box office. The movie has seen the light of the day in 400 screens across the state on Friday, December 21.
Prashanth Neel-directorial movie is one of the most-awaited movies in Sandalwood which is also dubbed into Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam languages. The advance booking for tickets had met with stupendous response, clearly indicating at the start that it is going to get on the first day.
Cashing in on the hype, single screens across had shown interest to have midnight shows, but the makers gave permission to start the shows at 4 am. The film had over 100+ fans shows apart from the regular shows on Bengaluru.
In multiplexes in Bengaluru, KGF had over 500 shows. If not for the release of other language biggies like Shah Rukh Khan's Zero and Dhanush's Maari 2, the Yash-starrer could have got 600+ shows, say trade trackers. Taking the pre-booking into consideration, KGF is expected to mint Rs 4+ crore on the first day in the Garden City alone.
Meanwhile, KGF has grossed close to Rs 40 lakh from the US premieres (reported screens only). The movie had the special shows in 100 locations. With good reviews coming its way, the film is expected to set the box office on fire for the next two days.
The film, which is made on the budget of Rs 50 crore + by Hombale Films, tells the story of an ambitious man and a feared man in the Mumbai underworld before he gets an assignment to come to the KGF.
