Yash's KGF has successfully completed its first week in theatres across the country. The Prashanth Neel-directorial has broken most of the records in the seven days and now heading towards becoming the all-time highest grossing movie in Sandalwood.
Released in about 350 screens, the movie has retained majority of its screens in Karnataka despite a few new releases. As per the industry insiders, the movie witnessed record-breaking footfalls in the first three days and the response for the movie on weekdays too was much higher than usual.
Irrespective of the talk, the audience have shown interest towards watching KGF in theatres, say trade observers. As a result, the Yash-starrer is getting ready to become the biggest commercial hit of all-time in Sandalwood.
KGF was released in five languages – Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam – on 21 December and it has done well in Hindi belt as well as at Karnataka and Andhra box office, while it has made negligible collection in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
In Karnataka, the distributors' share is said to be about Rs 28.5 crore. Yash's previous movie Santhu Straight Forward had raked in around Rs 12.5 crore share in first week. It was two years ago and had faced the demonetisation heat due to which the movie had lost several crore.
Whereas in Andhra and Telangana, KGF has earned around Rs 4.5 crore share. In the Hindi belt, the Rocking Star's film has minted 21.45 crore (nett).
Meanwhile, KGF has collected $522,848 in the US in its first week. It has seen the light of the day in the Gulf and a few other countries this week. However, the release of the film in Australia has been temporarily postponed.
