A group of unidentified men threw acid on a young woman in Alappuzha, Kerala, on Wednesday evening, said a local report.
The woman, identified as Shalini, has been admitted to Kochi Medical Trust hospital. She is an employee at the Kochi Naval Base.
The victim, who sustained burn injuries, was reportedly returning from work to her home in Cherthala when the incident took place.
Two unidentified bike-borne men threw acid on Shalini as she was walking home, reported Manorama Online.
The report added that an identity card supposedly belonging to army personnel was recovered from the area.
