The Kerala police have arrested a youth believed to be the boyfriend of teenaged TV actress Shilpa, who was found dead recently in Thiruvananthapuram under mysterious conditions.
The police got suspicious about the involvement of the youth, identified as Lijin, after he failed to appear for questioning twice. He was finally arrested from Kattakada in the state capital, local media reported on Thursday.
Lijin and his family had reportedly fled from their hometown soon after the death of Shilpa.
The police also questioned two other friends of Shilpa, with whom she had spent the evening before her death.
The 19-year-old actress was found dead on 18 July. Her body was recovered near Karamana river in Vellanad in Thiruvananthapuram.
After reports of suicide as the possible cause of death, her parents had ruled out its possibility saying Shilpa, who was also a lead singer in a musical troupe, was excited about her upcoming concert in Tamil Nadu.
After working in a Santhosh Pandit flick and some advertisements, Shilpa was also seen in popular Malayalam TV serials "Chandanamazha", "Pranayam" and "Soubhagyavathi".
