Kerala politician PC George, who was the former Chief Whip of Congress-led UDF government, resigned as MLA on Tuesday, said reports.
George, who was elected from Poonjar constituency, said he is resigning over Finance Minister KM Mani's involvement in the bar bribery case.
"If Mani does not resign, CPI-M will stage hunger strike across the state, followed by hartals and bandhs from today," ANI quoted George as saying.
He also asked Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy to resign, alleging that he too supported corruption by supporting Mani.
He said the resignation letter will be handed over to the Speaker on 12 November.
