The Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court has announced the verdict of the 2009 murder case of businessman Paul Muthoot George on Tuesday, 1 September.

2: 13 pm: Jayachandran gets rigorous lifetime imprisonment and is asked to pay a fine amount of Rs 50,000.
2: 12 pm: Kaari Satheesh and 7 others (accused number 2 - 9) get lifetime imprisonment and Rs 55,000 fine.
2: 11pm: Four accused have been awarded 3 years prison term and Rs 5,000 fine for destroying evidence.

As many as 13 have been found guilty in connection with the murder case after six years of investigation. The 14th accused, Aneesh, was aquitted by the CBI court in Thiruvananthapuram. Nine of the accused are said to have direct connection with the case. Four of them have been found guilty of destroying the evidence.
The murder created a hue and cry in Kerala. After an investigation by the Kerala Police, the case was handed over to the CBI two-and-a-half years ago.
Paul, then 32, was murdered near Jyothy junction in Alappuzha, Kerala, at around 1.30 am on 21 August, 2009.
The scion of the multi-crore Muthoot finance group was on his way to a resort at Champakulam when he was attacked and killed by a group of men on a tempo traveller.
More than 100 witnesses are said to have given their statement in connection to the case.
