A month after the CPI(M) created an uproar over a crucifixion tableau of Sree Narayana Guru, now another left-wing organisation has drawn flak over uploading a photoshopped picture of Mother Mary.
A Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) leader from Kannur on Tuesday took to his Facebook page to post a morphed image of Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy worshipping Mother Mary, whose face has been digitally replaced with that of Saritha Nair.
Arun Peravoor, DYFI Muringodi branch secretary who posted the controversial picture, later removed it from Facebook, said reports.
In the caption of the photo, the Kerala CM is pleading to Saritha Nair to bless him with more seats in the upcoming elections.
However, this has not gone well with the Christian community in the state and has sparked outrage on social media platforms.
In September, CPI(M) depicted the crucifixion of Sree Narayana Guru in a tableau during a pageant held on Krishna Janmashtami in Kerala. The controversial tableau, which appeared during a procession in Kannur, portrayed two men nailing Guru on a cross.
