The Sreekaryam police booked the students who were in the jeep at the time of the incident and also seized the vehicle.
A case has been reportedly registered against Baiju, a fourth year mechanical engineering student from Kannur, who was driving the jeep on charges of attempting to murder.
Several reports said that the student behind the wheel was driving under the influence of alcohol.
Even though the accident happened around 3:30 pm, the college authorities informed the police about the incident only after six hours, reports said. They also failed to inform the victim's parents.
