Malayalam movies Oppam, Pulimurugan, Thoppil Joppan and Aanandam have been performing well at the Kerala box office after garnering positive response from the movie-goers in the state. Among the four movies, it is Mohanlal's action thriller Pulimurugan that is leading the race at the multiplexes in Kochi.
The Vysakh directorial is all set to become the biggest Malayalam grosser of the year and has also beaten the collection records of the superstar's crime thriller Oppam, which was released exactly a month before Pulimurugan. The big-budget thriller, bankrolled by Tomichan Mulakupaadam, is said to have raked in a gross collection of Rs 2.39 crore within 19 days from six multiplexes in Kochi. However, the collection of the Mohanlal-starrer has witnessed a drop on the 19th day as it has only earned Rs 7.62 lakh with a theatre occupancy of 53.34 percent compared to its fabulous third weekend in Kochi.

Vineeth Sreenivasan's production venture has so far earned Rs 34.11 lakh within five days of its theatrical run at the six multiplexes in the city. The movie is expected to continue its success run for many days as it has been garnering positive word of mouth, especially from youngsters. Aanandam, which narrates the story of engineering students, mainly targets college students.
Thoppil Joppan
Mammootty's Thoppil Joppan, which had locked horns with Mohanlal's Pulimurugan at the box office, has also opened to positive audience response. However, the collection is far less than Pulimurugan, making the Mohanlal-starrer the winner of the season.
