In the coming weekend, Kerala box office is expected to witness a lot of action, with Hindi, Malayalam and Tamil movies slated to be released. Mohanlal's "Lailaa O Lailaa" will be released on on 14 May. Lal Jose's "Nee - Na" and Bollywood film "Bombay Velvet" starring Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma will hit screens on 15 May.
Besides these releases, theatres in Kerala are expected to fit in Tamil movies such as Jyothika starrer "36 Vayadhinile" and "Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai" starring Arya and Vijay Sethupathi, as both the movies announced release date on 15 May.
Coming to Malayalam releases, both movies are touted to be entirely different when it comes to their genre and making. 'Lailaa O Lailaa", which stars Mohanlal and Amala Paul in the lead, is a action thriller. Lal Jose's is said to deal with the intricacies and complexities of urban relationships.
The trailer and songs of "Lailaa O Lailaa" had already created a huge buzz. The movie is being promoted as one of the most expensive in Malayalam till date, and the action sequences in the film are said to have some Hollywood flavour.
Moreover, the script of "Lailaa O Lailaa" has been written by Suresh Nair, who has is known for his work in Bollywood movies such as "Kahaani", "Namastey London", "D-Day", "Singh is King" and "Bang Bang".
Lal Jose's "Nee – Na" is expected to be a completely new cinematic experience in terms of its visuals and narrative style. The trailer of the movie has ensured that the characters of "Nee-Na" will bring in new perspective to stories of human relationships and emotions that are usually seen in Malyalam cinema.
Sources close to the movie say that the magical touch of Lal Jose adds charm to the movie.
The central character of the movie, Neena, is played by debutant Deepthi Sathi and the movie also has star cast of Vijay Babu, Ann Agustine and Chemban Vinod Jose.
The script of "Nee- Na" has been written by Venugopal Ramachandran Nair and the cinematography is by Jomon T John.
Yet another movie that is expected to make a noticeable mark at the box office in Kerala is Bollywood movie "Bombay Velvet" directed by Anurag Kashyap.
Starring Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma, the film narrates the story of a street fighter Johnny Balraj and the transformation of Bombay into one of the biggest cities in the country. "Bombay Velvet" marks the acting debut of filmmaker Karan Johar in a negative role.
