Though two films of Malayalam megastar Mammootty failed to make a mark at the box office in 2015, his two other movies rocked the BO by running successfully for more than 100 days in theatres. Mammootty's "Bhaskar the Rascal" and "Pathemari" completed 100 days of theatrical run, becoming the top grossing movies of the actor in the year.
As part of the 100 days celebration, "Pathemari" was re-released in more than 10 theatres in Kerala on 8 January.
Both the Mammootty starrers belong to different genres. While "Bhaskar the Rascal" is a comedy entertainer directed by Siddique, the Salim Ahamed directorial "Pathemari" narrates the real life struggles of Keralites settled in Gulf countries.

"Bhaskar the Rascal" also stars Nayantara, Master Sanoop Santhosh and Baby Anikha in main roles and was tagged as a perfect family entertainer of the season. Meanwhile, "Pathemari" saw one of the best performances of Mammootty till date.
2015 was a good year for Malayalam industry as many other films also did well at the box office. Nivin Pauly-Alphonse Puthren's "Premam", released on 29 May, was the top grosser of the year. The movie has completed 225 days of its theatrical run in Escape Cinemas in Chennai and as part of the 222nd day of its release, Nivin watched the movie with his Tamil fans at the Chennai theatre on 7 January.
Prithviraj Sukumaran and Parvathy's romantic entertainer "Ennu Ninte Moideen" also did well at the box office in the second half of the year 2015. The movie is still running in many screens in India even after 113 days of its release. It is followed by the young superstar's romantic entertainer "Anarkali", which completed 80 days of its theatrical run at the Kerala box office.
