Among the five Eid releases in Kerala, it is Mammootty-starrer "Kasaba" that has emerged as the winner of the season with highest gross collection at the Kerala box office.
The debut directorial venture of Nithin Renji Panicker is said to have earned a gross collection of Rs. 10.44 crore within nine days of its theatrical run in the state alone. The cop thriller, which also stars Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Sampath and Neha Saxena in key roles, has been garnering fabulous response from Mammootty fans, despite getting mixed response from many others. "Kasaba" is the second release of the megastar this year after AK Sajan's crime thriller "Puthiya Niyamam," which reportedly collected Rs. 8.12 crore upon completing more than 7,000 shows in Kerala alone.

Following "Kasaba," comedy entertainer "Shajahanum Pareekuttiyum" has been listed on the second spot among the highest grossing Eid releases in Kerala with an approximate box office collection of Rs. 4.68 crore with 10 days of its release. The Boban Samuel movie, starring Kunchacko Boban, Jayasurya and Amala Paul, has been opened to mixed response from the audience.
The other Eid releases include "Anuraga Karikkin Vellam" (AKV), "Karinkunnam 6's" and Sultan," all of which have collected more than Rs. 3 lakh at the Kerala box office. Khalid Rahman's debut directorial venture "AKV," starring Asif Ali, Biju Menon, Rajisha Vijayan and Asha Sharath, has been garnering positive reviews from the movie-goers and it has grossed approximately Rs. 3.87 crore within seven days.

Meanwhile, Manju Warrier's sports movie "Karinkunnam 6's" is believed to have collected a gross amount of Rs. 3.48 crore within eight days, followed by Bollywood star Salman Khan's "Sultan," which has earned approximately Rs. 3.12 crore after completing nine days of theatrical run in the state. The box office collection of Ali Abbas Zafar-directed film is said to have crossed Rs. 65 lakh from multiplexes in Kochi alone.
