"Kali" has broken the record of the maximum first-day collection made by a Malayalam movie, which was earlier held by Mohanlal's "Loham." While "Loham" is said to have collected Rs 2.14 crore on the opening day, the earnings of the Martin Prakkat-directed "Charlie" on the first day of its release in Kerala were reported to be around Rs 2.06 crore.
Latest reports also say that while "Kali" tops the list of Malayalam movies with highest opening day collections, followed by "Loham" and "Charlie," it has also become the third movie with highest first day collection in Kerala. The list is topped by the Tamil films, Chiyaan Vikram's "I" (Rs 3.19 crore) and Vijay's "Jilla" (Rs 2.61 crore).
