The father and son duo of Malayalam cinema – Mammootty and Dulquer Salmaan – are all set to lock horns with the release of their movies during the festive season of "Vishu" in April.
Mammootty's movie "Bhaskar the Rascal" is set to release on 15 April while Dulquer's Tamil movie "OK Kanmani" will hit screens on 17 April. The close proximity of these releases is sure to trigger an interesting box office competition in Kerala.
The audience are waiting to see who out of the two stars will have an upper hand in terms of box office collection. Most of the viewers guess that both the stars have a good chance to create a good buzz in theatres, but who will emerge winner is something they are eagerly waiting to see.
Mammootty had managed to create a good buzz with songs and trailer of the movie "Bhaskar The Rascal" and the actor's look in the movie has given his fans a reason to celebrate. The movie, which also stars Nayanthara in the lead has been directed by "Bodyguard" maker Siddhique. Considering the film maker's track record, the movie is expected to be a treat for Mammootty fans.
Meanwhile, "OK Kanmani" is said to be one of the biggest movies in Dulquer Salmaan's career. The Tamil movie directed by Mani Ratnam is probably the most-awaited one in recent times. The trailer of the movie and the songs composed by AR Rahman released recently had gone viral.
"OK Kanmani" is touted to be an urban romantic movie along the lines of Mani Ratnam's hit movie "Alaiypayuthey". The film has Nithya Menen in the lead opposite Dulquer and this is the third time the duo has been paired together after "Usthad Hotel" and "100 Days of Love".
Meanwhile, this is not the first time Mammootty and Dulquer will be clashing at the box office. The last time they had a similar competiton was during Eid in July 2014 with the release of Dulquer's "Vikramadithyan" and Mammootty's "Manglish". At that time, it was the son who won the box office collection battle.
