Kerala Blasters knew the importance of not backing down after a massive lost to Mumbai City FC in ISL 2016. They didn't. They actually got right up, played and conquered. On Friday, the Sachin Tendulkar co-owned side got a suave 2-1 victory over FC Pune City in Kochi.
Lest we forget, the Pune side is coached by Antonio Habas, the same coach who guided Atletico de Kolkata to a landmark win against Kerala Blasters in the Indian Super League 2014 final.
Duckens Nazon and a returning Aaron Hughes scored the two goals of the match for the home team, while Anibal scored the consolatory for the away side from a well-taken free kick at the death. Kerala Blasters have now moved to the third place in the ISL 2016 points table with 18 points from 12 games.
FC Pune City, meanwhile, got a major blow to their hopes of making it to the ISL semi final, as they still remain on 15 points with one league game left.
