Kerala Blasters could just turn out to be the team of ISL 2016. The final of the Indian Super League third season is being held at the JLN Kochi and Sachin Tendulkar's side have emphatically reached the last four of the Indian football competition this year. Can they now go all the way? That remains the question now.
Rise, rise and some more rise: that has been the story of Kerala Blasters this season. And one man has remained the knight in shining armour for the ISL franchisee -- CK Vineeth.
Five goals from six games ever since the India forward returned from a historic AFC Cup campaign with Bengaluru FC, Vineeth has remained the one-man army for Kerala Blasters. The 28-year-old has also been referred to as the MS Dhoni of Indian football, thanks to his brilliant late goals in ISL 2016.
Vineeth remained the only scorer for Kerala Blasters against NorthEast United on Sunday as they made it to the last four of the Indian Super League -- the second time in three years.
Steve Coppell too has been the guiding light all through for the Kerala Blasters and the former Manchester United veteran's mentorship has also tremendously helped Tendulkar's team this time around. The Englishman, on his part, prefers to pass the buck of their team's success to the enormous Kerala Blasters fans.
"The supporters here have seen a number of victories and to finish second [in the ISL 2016 points table] has been a tremendous achievement for everybody at the Blasters. I said to the players that listen to the crowd when you are tired and you will grow wings and I think on occasions a couple of players were tired and they grew wings, so a big thank you to the crowds," mentioned Coppell, 61.
