Expanding its product portfolio, Kawasaki India is gearing up for the launch of the Versys 650. Kawaski India is already selling the Versys 1000 in India and the launch of the smaller sibling at an affordable price is expected to increase its customer base.
An Autocar India report claims the Versys 650 India launch can be expected in December. The Japanese manufacturer reportedly imported the motorcycle from Thailand for homologation. The report further says the possible colour options are green and black while the white colour in the international range will not be available in India.
The Versys 650 will use the same powertrain of the Ninja 650, which is powered by 649cc liquid-cooled parallel twin engine that develops 68bhp of power at 8,500rpm and torque of 63.7Nm at 7,000rpm mated to six-speed transmission.
The Versys 650 takes its design from the bigger Versys 1000 motorcycle. The Versys 650 will come with dual headlights, large capacity fuel tank and LED tail lights. Being a tourer motorcycle, the new motorcycle will be equipped with height-adjustable windshield and reach-adjustable handlebars. The ground clearance of 170mm comes handy for off-road rides. The Versys range is known for its touring virtues that also offers comfortable off-road ride.
The motorcycle is equipped with upside down shock absorber at front while rear gets mono suspension. The braking is taken care of by dual-disc brakes up front and single disc at rear tyres.
Kawasaki India currently sells Z1000, Ninja 1000, Versys 1000, Z800, Z250 and top of the range Ninja H2 in India. Bajaj Probiking outlets sell Kawasaki Ninja 300 and 650 in India.
