Imran Khan and Kangana Ranaut starrer "Katti Batti" crashed at the box office on its first Monday in India. The love story, which already started on a slow note when it was released, took a bigger dip at the box office on Monday.
The film minted Rs 18.18 crore in its opening weekend and on fourth day it raked in Rs 1.91 crore.
"#KattiBatti slumps on Mon. Fri 5.28 cr, Sat 5.48 cr, Sun 5.51 cr, Mon 1.91 cr. Total: ₹ 18.18 cr. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
"Katti Batti" was expected to do well, but the film failed to live up to trade analysts' expectations. The film, which was expected to earn well, is now raking in the range of Sunny Leone's "Ek Paheli Leela".
Kangana's last release "Tanu Weds Manu Returns" had done exceptionally well at the box office and it also became the first movie of the year to cross Rs 100 crore. However, her second movie bombed at the domestic box office.
Meanwhile, the overseas box office collection of "Katti Batti" will bring a smile on the makers' face. Compared to India, the film has performed well at the overseas box office.
"Katti Batti" has minted $ 1.17 million (Rs 7.72 crore) from the overseas box office since its release.
"#KattiBatti Overseas total: $ 1.17 million [₹ 7.72 cr]... North America $ 251k, UAE-GCC $ 450k, UK $ 175k, Pakistan $ 134k," Adarsh added.
