Filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar has confirmed that actress Priyanka Chopra will no longer be a part of his upcoming project Bharat as the Quantico star is reportedly engaged with her rumoured boyfriend Nick Jonas.
Speculations are rife that the director may look to replace Priyanka with his good friend Katrina Kaif to play an important role in Salman Khan's much-anticipated movie. An official announcement, however, is still awaited.
Zafar took to Twitter on July 27 to speak out about Priyanka's exit from Bharat. He also hinted at the actress' wedding in a cryptic tweet as he wished her happiness.
"Yes Priyanka Chopra is no more part of @Bharat_TheFilm & and the reason is very very special , she told us in the Nick of time about her decision and we are very happy for her ... Team Bharat wishes @priyankachopra loads of love & happiness for life," Zafar tweeted.
Zafar and Katrina have been really good friends for a long time and the director would be looking to bring her on board to recreate the Salman-Katrina magic yet again after the success of Tiger Zinda Hai.
The director commenced the shooting for Bharat a couple of days ago. The movie also stars Disha Patani, Nora Fatehi and Sunil Grover. Salman Khan's stylist Ashley Rebello recently shared a picture from the sets with Kashmiri actor Tariq Mir who has an uncanny resemblance to Lord Tyrion Lannister, one of the popular characters in Game of Thrones series played by Peter Dinklage.
Bharat is an official remake of the 2014 South Korean film Ode to My Father. It is produced by Atul Agnihotri's Reel Life Production Pvt Ltd and Bhushan Kumar's T-Series. The movie is slated for an Eid release in 2019.
