Katrina Kaif is one of the most sought after actresses of the Hindi film industry and her recent statement on why she let go Mohit Suri's, Half Girlfriend, only cements it further. The actress, though, apparently thought her age doesn't go with the script.
Half Girlfriend is about college-going kids and therefore Kaif thought she would look older next to Arjun Kapoor. Suri was convinced Kaif would do a good job, but the leading lady insisted that he look for another actress as her "screen age" would hurt the film, Rajeev Masand reported in his column.
Apparently, Kaif is aware that she looks older than her age and of the fact that her pairing with Sidharth Malhotra and Aditya Roy Kapur in Baar Baar Dekho was found to be odd by quite a few people. Suri was touched by her kind thoughts and later signed on Shraddha Kapoor as the female lead.
Based on Chetan Bhagat's novel of the same name, Half Girlfriend has been wrapped up and ready for release sometime next year. Late last month, Arjun Kapoor, talking to the media said it was an emotional experience for him because of the character he has had to essay. He also briefly praised Bhagat for being an accommodating co-producer.
"The best part about Chetan is he is non-interfering. He has never once come and told us that 'I feel it should be this way and not that'. He is very collaborative. He takes a back seat and has allowed us to take his material and make it our own. It's been a very good collaborative experience," Kapoor elaborated.
