Ilayathalapathy Vijay is basking in the success of "Kaththi" at box office. And as a tribute to him, his fans have unveiled his statue at a theatre in Chrompet, Chennai at 11am on 26 October.
At 10am on Sunday, PRO Nikkil Murugan confirmed the news about Vijay's statue on his Twitter page. He also revealed a couple of pictures, which featured the fans kissing and offering prayers to the statue of their favourite actor.
Besides positing pictures, the PRO tweeted, "#ilayathalapathy's statue to be revealed to public today by 11.00 am by his fans at chrompet."
His latest movie "Kaththi", which released in theatres across the world, has made brilliant collection at the global box office. With each new release, the actor has made some innovations with his roles, costumes and looks to entertain his fans, who have adored him even during the negative phases in his career.
The statue features the actor wearing blue jeans, white shirt and black glasses. It reminds of the actor's popular make-over in the film, "Vishwa Bhai". The fans have reportedly spent more than ₹1 lakh on the statue, which was unveiled on Sunday morning.
It should be mentioned here that this is not the first statue of Vijay to be unveiled. Vijay is one of most popular Tamil actors and he has a huge fan-following in neighbouring states as well.
Back in 2010, his fans in Kerala, where he has a huge fan base, had unveiled his Robot statue and the actor himself had unveiled it at a grand function held on 3 December. Watch the video of Vijay unveiling the statue below:
