Bollywood has always welcomed South remakes. It goes without saying that some of the big stars from the Hindi films love to act in the remakes of superhits from Tamil and Telugu. Now, yet another one seems ready to be remade in Bollywood. Well, it is none other than Vijay starrer "Kaththi", which is likely to be starred by Akshay Kumar.
Akshay Kumar has been comfortable to act in South remakes. His "Rowdy Rathore" ("Vikramarkudu" - Telugu) and "Holiday" ("Thuppakki" - Tamil) are his recent remakes. Now, we hear that the actor might star in the remake of forthcoming Tamil film "Kaththi", which is all set to hit the screens on 22 October for Diwali.
The Bollywood actor has been AR Murugadoss' favourite actor in Hindi films and the news has not surprised many. But the director will be moving on to a woman-centric film starring Sonakshi Sinha after the release of "Kaththi". So, there is no clarity on when the remake of Vijay's latest film might kick start.
As per the industry insiders, it all depends on the response that "Kaththi" gets in Kollywood. If the film is received well, the Bollywood remake might start sooner than expected. But if the Tamil version fails to impress the audience, the plans of Hindi remake will not emerge.
Telugu Version of "Kaththi" to be Delayed?
Earlier, the makers of "Kaththi" wanted to simultaneously release the Telugu version of the film. Now, it appears like they are postponing it. Meanwhile, they are planning for the audio release function of the Tollywood version and they are likely to invite Telugu Megastar Chiranjeevi to the event.
"Kaththi": Judgement Out
On the other end, "Kaththi" has been cleared for the release. A case was filed to ban the film alleging that Sri Lankan President Rajapaksa has funded it. On Monday, 13 October, the Madras High Court has given the verdict that the court does not interfere in the issue as the Regional Censor Board has cleared the film with 'U' certificate.
