Ilayathalapathy Vijay's "Kaththi" has turned out to be the biggest hit of Kollywood in 2014.
The Tamil movie, which was released last week, seems to be now attracting other industries over its remake rights. After Telugu, Bollywood filmmakers appear to be interested in remaking the Vijay starrer and their easiest bets for the Bollywood version are Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan along with Akshay Kumar.
Prior to the release, there were reports that "Kaththi" would be watched by Kumar, who has worked with AR Murugadoss before. Reportedly, he was also interested to remake it in Bollywood. However, now with the remake rights in demand, the message-oriented movie seems to be attracting some big production house from the B-town and their choice is either Shah Rukh Khan or Salman Khan. It has to be remembered that the latter had featured in the remakes of a few south Indian hit films.
It is interesting to note that Shah Rukh, who has never preferred to act in South remakes, is also being considered by Bollywood filmmakers. The industry insiders believe that the star value that King Khan brings to a project remains the biggest factor for them to consider him for the lead role.
On the other end, some believe that Vijay's role is a tailor-made role for Salman and action-packed stories have always worked big time for the Bollywood star.
Nonetheless, one cannot predict who will star in the Hindi version until the remake right is sold. Meanwhile, Telugu and Kannada producers too are willing to remake it in their respective languages.
Kaththi, which is produced by Lyca Producitons, has Vijay and Samantha in the lead roles. It is about a man's brave fight against an establishment, which wants to grab poor farmers' lands by hook or crook.
