Karthi's Kashmora (Kaashmora) has got a good opening on Friday and remained steady on Saturday. The movie's gross collections surpassed Rs 25 crore gross mark at the worldwide box office in two days.
Kashmora is a big budget epic supernatural thriller film, which has been made with a whopping budget of Rs 60 crore. Its posters, teasers, trailer and music had garnered a lot of attention and created a lot of curiosity about the movie before its release. But trade experts were a bit sceptic about its prospects as the film clashed with another big-ticket film Kodi, starring Dhanush, at the box office.
The Gokul-directed Tamil film was released in over 2,000 screens around the world and the hype surrounding the film helped the film register a good advance booking. Kashmora received fantastic opening and collected Rs 4.50 crore gross in Tamil Nadu, Rs 4.50 crore gross in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana (AP/T), Rs 3 crore in other parts of India and overseas.
Kashmora collected approximately Rs 12 crore from both its Tamil and Telugu versions at the worldwide box office. The movie became the biggest opener for Karthi, beating the records of his previous films. The flick garnered positive reviews from the audience and the world of mouth was expected to boost its collection on Saturday.
The Karthi, Nayantara and Sri Divya-starrer witnessed a massive jump with its collection almost doubling on Saturday. Ramesh Bala, a trade expert from Kollywood, tweeted: "Thanks to #Diwali holiday, @Karthi_Offl - #Nayanthara 's #Kaashmora nearly doubles it's Day 1 BO on Day 2 - 8 Crs gross in TN.. ."
Though it could not show huge growth, the film managed to maintain rock-steady in other parts of the globe. Kashmora is estimated to have collected Rs 14.50 crore gross at the worldwide box office on its second day and its gross total has reached Rs 26.50 crore in the global market. Here is the estimated area-wise collection of the film:
