Karunanidhi's death: From Rajinikanth to Allu Arjun, here is how celebrities reacted to the demise of DMK patriarch

Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi died at the age of 94 in Chennai. The doctors at the Kauvery Hospital declared him dead at 6.10 pm on Tuesday, August 7.

M Karunanidhi was battling for his life for over 10 days due to age-related ailments. "Despite the best efforts by our team of doctors and nurses to resuscitate him, he failed to respond," a release from the hospital stated.

The DMK leader entered politics at the age of 14 and was described as a champion of social equality and pro-poor social welfare programmes. His death has come as an unbearable loss to Indian politics and especially for Tamil Nadu which is yet to recover from the loss of another beloved politician -- J Jayalalithaa, who breathed her last in December 2016.
