Five much-awaited Telugu films - "Karthikeya", "I Am In Love", "Happy New Year", "Pooja" and "Ishq Wala Love" - are slated to release for Diwali. Trade experts from Filmnagar predict that it is going to be a big clash at the box office this weekend.
"Karthikeya" is a suspense thriller film, which has been written and directed by debutant Chandoo Mondeti. Set in the border of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, the film is about Subramaniapuram Temple, which is closed for some reasons. Whoever tries to know the facts about the temple would die from snake bite. And how the hero unravels the mystery will form the crux of the film.
It is one of the most-awaited films of the year. The promos of "Karthikeya" have created lot of curiosity among movie-goers. The film has been creating buzz for another reason - it brings back together the hit pair of "Swamy Ra Ra", Nikhil Siddharth and Swathi Reddy. It is slated to release worldwide on 24 October.
"I am in Love" is another original Telugu movie that is schedule to release in theatres on 24 October. It has been written and directed by Chandra Sekhar Reddy and produced by Sujan. Newbies Kiran and Priyanka are playing the lead roles, while Raghu Babu, Dhanraj, Raghu Karumanchi, Sivvannarayana and Jogi Brothers appear in supporting cast the movie, which has Pradeep KK's music, Sree Mani and Sriram's lyrics, Chekravartthy Ghanapaati's camera work and Upendra's editing.
"Pooja" is the dubbed version of most-talked about Tamil film "Poojai", which has been directed by Hari. Vishal Krishna and Shruti Haasan are playing the lead roles in the film, which boasts of an ensemble cast of Sathyaraj, Raadhika Sarathkumar and Mukesh Tiwari.
Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the soundtrack and background score for "Pooja" and its songs have received positive response. The film has Priyan's cinematography and VT Vijayan's editing. The promos have soared up the viewers' expectations sky high. Along with the Tamil version, the film is set to hit the screens on 22 October.
"Happy New Year" is an action comedy-drama film, which is the Telugu version of director Farah Khan's Bollywood film with the same name. The film features an ensemble cast of Superstar Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Vivaan Shah, Sonu Sood and Jackie Shroff. This dubbed film is releasing with its original version 24 October.
"Ishq Wala Love" is another dubbed movie that is releasing on 24 October. It is the Telugu version of Marathi film with the same name. It is touted to be a modern young love story. Adinath Kothare and Sulagna Panigrahi are playing the lead roles, while Apurva Nemlekar, Bhargavi Chirmule, Suchitra Bandekar and Guru Thakur appear as supporting cast.
The film has got lot of hype in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh because it marks the debut of Pawan Kalyan's ex-wife Reni Desai as writer and director. Another reason is that it marks the acting debut of the Power Star's son Akhira. Interestingly, it is produced by Renu under her home banner Akhira films. The Mega fans are desperately waiting to watch the film.
Among the five films, two are original Telugu movies and rest are dubbed versions. However, all of them belong to different genres and their promos have created a lot of buzz in the media. Together, they are expected to release in 2000+ screens in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Old releases like "Loukyam", "Govindudu Andarivadele" and "Oka Laila Kosam", which have released in a large number of screens in these states, are doing well at the box office. With five new films hitting the screens this Diwali, this weekend will witness a big competition at the Tollywood box office.
