The first look poster of Tamil anthology project "Aviyal" was released by Karthik Subbaraj on Friday, 29 January.
"Aviyal" has six short films by filmmakers Karthik Subbaraj, Alphonse Puthren, Yogesh, Mohit, Shameer and Guru, and it was premiered at the Chennai International Film Festival on 10 January.
The film features Bobby Simha, SJ Suryah, Vaibhav and others. The latest reports also suggest that Nivin Pauly, Rajeev Pillai, Jinu and Bobby Simha's short film "Eli", directed by Alphonse a few years ago, will be part of the anthology film.
Produced by Stone Bench Creations and released by Thenandal Films, "Aviyal" is scheduled to hit the theatres in February and is expected to be released in more 70 screens across the country.
It is the second anthology project of Karthik after "Bench Talkies - The First Bench", which was released in 2015. It had six short films: "Neer" by Karthik, "The Lost Paradise" by Anil Krishnan, "Agavizhi" by Gopakumar, "Puzhu" by Charukesh Sekar, "Nallathor Veenai" by Monesh and "Madhu" by Rathnakumar RM. The anthology film starred Vijay Sethupathi, Guru Somasundharam, Sananth Reddy and Rishikanth Rajendran. Karthik is also known for his Tamil movies "Pizza" and "Jigarthanda".
