Karnataka is hit by another land scam after the land denomination scam hit the BJP. The State Minorities Commission has accused 38 Congress leaders of encroaching land that's worth Rs 2 lakh crore.
The State Minorities Commission claimed that over 22 thousand properties owned by the Wakf Board were sold over the last decade. The illegal encroachment is estimated to have caused Rs 2 lakh crore loss to the exchequer.
Anwar Manippady, Chairperson of the State Minorities Commission, reportedly told CNN-IBN that 38 congress leaders, including top politicians, are in the scam.
The 7,500 page report by the State Minorities Commission claimed that the Wakf Board members facilitated the transfer of land to private individuals and institutions in the last 11 years. It added that 85 percent of the land misused is from Bangalore.
The report, which has been submitted to Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda, is expected to be tabled in the state assembly in a couple of days.
